The legends of Linh Ung Bai But pagoda

It is said that during the reign of King Minh Mang (1820 – 1842), there was a Buddha statue that drifted out of nowhere on the sand. Coastal fishermen discovered and considered it a good omen, so they set up a temple to worship.

One day, Avalokitesvara appeared to save people to overcome difficulties, and to help calm the sea. Fishermen can do business safely, life gradually became full and prosperous.

Since then, the old sandy beach where the Buddha image washed up was named Bai But or “Buddha in the middle of life” and was the place where Linh Ung Pagoda was later built.
